Specifically Strike Master Magnum 8.25" chipper 2hp vs.

Jiffy Model 79 ST  8.25" Chipper

Just wanted some feed back, reviews, etc.  Which one would you go with?

I run both brands up at The Red Door.

This is what I can share....The Jiffy handles are in some cases to wide to get into some corners. They do rotate at a faster speed and do not bind up as much as the Strikemaster. The Strikemaster has a much smaller handle and will fit into the corners of a fish house better than the Jiffy. I don't care for the new Jiffy power head....starts hard...pulls over hard! I have broke the plastic handles before on the Strikemaster also!

There are + - with both....

I was wondering why they changed power heads.  Sounds like they are using a "new" material for the handles as well.  You wouldn't think plastic and cold mix well, but they must have it figured out.

The Strike master is certainly lighter.

I haven't used that model of Jiffy, so I can't say anything about it.  A couple friends of mine have Jiffys and I have drilled holes with them.  They are heavier and tougher to start.  I have a Strikemaster with the 2.5 hp Solo and it runs great and starts on the second or third pull.  I also have a Magnum that is 6 or 7 years old and I have never broke the plastic handle on either.  The chipper blade drills slower than the Lazer blades.  You probably want this for inside that wheelhouse you are getting, so a Strikemaster is probably going to work out better because they aren't as big.

Has anyone run and used the Jiffy Pro 4 Propane powered auger please?

I know Jiffy's tend to be heavier than the comparable Strike Master...but the Propane seems like a great advantage versus the minus side...

The Strike Master unit I have used is a 3.0hp unit I believe so I cannot comment on the specific model.

I had not heard about the handle issue before...bummer.thanks...MM

Well I already had the Jiffy and have less than 40 holes drilled with it.  I just won the Strikemaster @ the Perch Extravaganza.  I want to sell one and am trying to decide which one to keep.  I am leaning towards selling the Jiffy.

Fife:  I did not get a wheelhouse, my boss did.  He already has a Strikemaster.  I will be fishing out of it some, but also have the portable.
