I think the biggest will be around 1.75-1.9. Just shy of the 2lb mark.

Ran into the dnr survey census taker at Macs Twin Bay access on Tuesday afternoon, he stated that btwn Dec and Jan he had 1100 people fishing and only 111 perch, according to his clipboard. Also eelpout, perch, and of course keeper walleye numbers were all down. Forgot to ask about toulibee's. I guess the only good numbers are Musky, northern and smallmouths.

Big perch at contest 1.8lbs

MM--if you beat me out by .02 I will be reminded of a big walleye tourney I lost by .02 back in 1994 in Alberta. (about 30k per hundreth I lost) 2nd place by .02 is like kissing one's sister! LOL

 Steve,

If I were to win -- I will split it with you and the legal fund. smilesmilewink From past perch tournaments, that weight from 1.12 to 1.19 lbs is usually where it is decided. MM.

Two Tears ago at the big Perch Extravaganza (on a very cold -10 below late February day) at Hunter's Point the big perch winner was 1.19 lbs perch

It w\Won I believe ~~ but Perhaps Big D Doug Ertl can correct me.... We had one in at 1.14 and finished about 8th place after being an early ,morning top 2 position.

MM was there... Hunter Point House #13 (true story).

That is why it is fishing. smilesmilesmile

No results?

I see the DU event shows the biggest perch at .27 but that is held in a designated area so it is not comparable to the Hunter's format. But even with that, .27 anywhere on the lake years ago would not have made the top 100!  Different times...sad.

I can't find results on any on Hunters website or their facebook page... I did have a few barley pops, but know that 1.17 was one of the weights, I believe it was 2nd place. I don;t recall hearing 1.19 as the winner, thought it was a little more.

Hunter's Point winner was 1.19 # with the second place right behind it. The Extravaganza winner will be 1.235.

Hey MM....we were close! 1.19 is really close!  Pretty rare to get one over 1.30

Yes, Steve, I have updated the 'new' thread for 2013 with my guess of 1.19lbs yesterday. The ones we caught in past years were 1.14 - 1.17 lbs or so. However, it looks like a more normal year for temperature on the day of the event so maybe there will be more action.

Tat2jonnie says he has seen some big ones....and Fife wants to know where of course. So I updated the so-called 'new thread'. Have fun, MM

I have called Johnson's Portside Bait & Liquor tonight 02-26-13.

The winners for the Perch Extravaganza are posted in the current Mille Lacs Lake Messenger.

The nice folks at Portside Bait & Liquor provided these top winners by phone this evening:

1st Place 1.53 lbs Perch $500 to Paul Hinton winner.gifwinner.gif

2nd Place 1.28 lbs Perch $250 to Tom Hinecke winner.gif

I believe the top ten winners earned up to a $100 prize.

These are much bigger Perch than other years I have been there -- so WTG Fishermen.

MM smilesmilesmile
