seems like something similar happens every year. i remember one year my dad and i had gone out of terry brandts on the south end. and about half way thru the afternoon the water spashed up into the holes. everything was good for us that was. turned out once we got back to the red door that night we had heard that a piece of ice had broken off with some anglers. again the sheriff or the dnr had to play the role of rescuer. I love my ice fishing. i really do but honestly some people are just plain stupid

The guys were fishing around the Lakeside Reef area.  They parked their ATVs by shore on Picard Point and walked out from there.  The wind picked up during the time they were out there and opened up a crack 40+ feet wide.  They guys walked up and down the crack trying to find a place to cross, but it went as far as we could see both North and South.  They got the men and their equipment off with the hovercraft.

Thanks Fife. smilewink

Good report.... biggrin

Obviously the lake ice is crazy right now. Stay safe.

We gotta get one of those hovercraft for early ice fishing ? disbeliefnohmm

Jon,

Nice 'alien view' picture of the lake. Be careful guys. Maybe I wil just buy some walleye fingers auntil this ice ever locks in on the lake.

Here's a link that wil give you daily updates. You need to go to our area (USA 3 I think) and click that. Once it comes up, click the 250 zoom. You can then pan around. You may also go back a long ways by days.
