just wondering if anyone has any experience with the humminbird 597 ci hd di. i mostly fish southwest MN potholes but head to mille lacs a couple times a year and electronics seem to be a lot more important up there. Is the down imaging worth the extra $140 bucks? thanks!!!
The side imaging and down imaging are a nice feature. With a 7" or smaller screen I feel like its too hard to see things with the side imaging, so I wouldn't recommend spending the extra money. Now on a 9" or 11" screen, its pretty cool.

I have the 597 without the imaging. It's my first combo unit and I really like it. All the menus are easy to use and understand. I highly recommend it.
FYI, I have the Lowrance HDS-7 with GPS and Color Sonar; the unit was $699 with the rebate at Reed's Sporting Goods. It is outstanding. You want the LakeMaaster chip too!
The LakeMaster Pro chip for Mille lacs is extra but not too expensive. ($85.00)
