Hey Gang,

I have a HDS 7 at my consel and an HDS5 at my bow, I have the yellow end network cable to both of them, but they are not sharing info at all.  Does anyone know what I need to do to get them to share the waypoints, ect..

Hi Wade,

The info I'm about to give is correct to the best of my knwoledge, but please use this in conjunction with other sources to confirm.

The yellow ethernet you have connected to both units allows you to share info such as sonar & Radar. GPS does not travel through the ethernet. It needs to come from the nema 2000 network.

I am taking it that you are not using a external antenna as GPS source for the 2 units. If you are, then this will be realy easy to get you fixed up. If not using an extrnal then my guess is you aren't using the nema network. In order for you to share waypoints from 1 unit to another it would require the nema 200 network be connected to both units. The nema is the red connector set up that also uses red "T"s, red terminators, and red connector cables.

Before we go any further, can you confirm you're not using an extrenal and the nema network?

I'll try to monitor this and watch for your reposnce.

Mike

I use the yellow ethernet cord and am able to share waypoints. Make sure you go in to your NMEA network and enable the send/receive waypoint functions. Menu - Settings - Network - NMEA2000 - Send/Receive Waypoints

thank you guys for the information, do I need to enable that on both units, I take it?  Then they just work together or is one the main brain?

If this works through ethernet, then it should be just like working through nema 2000.

You enable both, and which ever unit you set a way point on, it should be set on the second.

Let us know

Good luck
