I am running an E-tec now.  Do you recommend some treatment with each tank of gas?

Anyone have trouble with a slug of water showing up in tank/water seapearter/carbs??? Its called PHASE SEPERATION!!! Get used to it. You will be hearing more on this subject as time goes on. Its the ability of fuel to seperate from water, caused by the amount of alcohol  in pump gas. Boats stored on or close to the water, have a larger chance of pulling more water from the air! Add humid/hot days, and chanches are you will hear more 'bout PHASE SEPERATION and you WILL see more water/fuel problems. This means fuel filters pluging, hard starting, low performance, PISTON FAILURE,bearing failure. Yes, a little Seafoam is all you need to keep on top of things in every tank. Dont forget a shock treatment at least once a season (Powertune/ring free, etc). More on this later!  ANY QUESTIONS please call 1-612-390-2474.... Dont wait for a answer online--some of us have summer jobs!

I put stabil in my tank for the winter.  When i put 20 gallons of fresh gas in for the first start up should i dump some sea foam in the tank also as im filling up?  Like 1 oz per gallon?

Thanks

Thanks for the great advice and information on PHASE SEPARATION and use of the Seafoam product.

That is way cool and very good thing to know about.

I am running a Mercury 125hp 4 cylinder outboard -- but it has be stored when I am not on the water. It is an oil injection 2001 model. It ois stored in a dry garage when not in the water.

Is there anything different to consider with an oil injection system?

Notes:

1. I run only the manufacturer's specific injeciton oil but I am still learning this boat and engine. 2. The boat has had a thorough mechanical inspection and pre-season preparation in April. It starts and runs well in the shop of course...

I just do not want to screw up....thanks again from Malmo

GOOD question  PERRRRCH!!!  Yes good idea to add seafoam@1oz/gal for added fuel amounts.Just read some threads on Scream and Fly site , from Tony Brucato, (who is THE god/king/holy/guru of fuel injector cleaning), says the only Perfect flowing injector sets hes ever tested, were supplied with gas  since day one, that had been treated w/seafoam. Said he saw less than ten  good sets in last ten years.  He does thousands of sets per year!!!

To MCallies:::  Dont see any  EXTRA  fuel related probs with oil injected motors. remember oil filter yearly service, and removing water from bottom of oil tank/tanks. Rember V6 mercs and yams have two oil  tanks!!!
