I have a couple of questions for any of you smally chasers.  I understand that they are typically found on the rocks, but is there anything in particular about rocks that attract them more to specific areas?  Or is it a depth thing?

I really want to catch some of these beauties this year.  Any help would be appreciated.

Any guides for smallmouth on the lake?

Thanks.

When it opens I like to look for the biggest rocks out there the big bolders some times if it is flat enough you can see them and cast right to them. I like to have two rods rigged up one with a tube jig or a twister tail and one with a crank bait. I will make long casts with the crank and drift or troll over the rock piles . Than if I see one switch to the jig and toss it in front of them. Good Luck they are really fun to catch and fight tike no other. Hope to see your pics next month!biggrin

As far as guides go, I know that Bobber from this website will fish for smallies at times, but I know he spends more time chasing 'eyes.  Perhaps you can message Bobber and get a better idea of who he might suggest otherwise I know of another who might work...

 Food - mostly crawfish.

Early in the season the crawfish have a greenish coloring to their backs. When they start sheding their shells as they get bigger, they turn a more orange/red color.  You want to match the colors of the crawfish as the season progresses. (Tube colors)  But with that said, some days they just chew on anything!  There are days when a meps spinner pretty much puts a fish in the boat on every cast.
