This is the first year I am going to try some ice fishing.  Never done it before.  I have been getting some of the equip slowly.  My question today is what is the diff between regular mono and mono that says it is for ice?  What do some of you use.?  Do you use fireline or mono?  Reg or for the ice?  I have no idea what to get.

I just spool my reels with regular line but all my fishing is done from inside a shack where ice up isn't an issue!  Most "ICE" lines are coated with a silicone based product to keep the line from absorbing water which will freeze and cause the line to stick to itself eventually causing you headaches! If you plan to fish outside in the elements, get the stuff designed for ice fishing otherwise you will do fine with the normal line if you’re able to keep it warm!  Good luck!

I use Fireline Crystal or P-Line.  I use the P-Line flourocarbon on my bobber lines and outdoor rods.  For in the house I use the braided Fireline crystal.  If I can keep the fireline from freezing, I try to use it outside also.  Braided and flourocarban line have very little stretch so they are very helpful in detecting even the most subtle bites.
